Supporting Our Local Community

At Main Street Veterinary Hospital, our team is actively involved in supporting our local community.

Oklahoma State University Clerkship Program for Veterinary Students

As a clerkship site, MSVH offers fourth year veterinary students from Oklahoma State University the opportunity to work alongside experienced veterinarians, engage directly with clients, and apply their academic knowledge in a diverse, fast-paced setting. Students are exposed to a wide range of species and medical cases-an invaluable asset for developing clinical reasoning, communication skills, and surgical proficiency.

At MSVH, our mission has always been rooted in education, excellence, and compassionate care. Becoming an official training partner with OSU College of Veterinary Medicine aligns perfectly with our values and enhances our ability to contribute meaningfully to the future of veterinary medicine.

We look forward to mentoring aspiring veterinarians and helping them transition from the classroom to the clinic with confidence and skill. We are excited to be a part of OSU's fourth year-veterinary students journey!

Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE)

At MSVH, we believe great veterinary care knows no borders. That’s why we’re proud to support and partner with Oklahoma State University’s Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE)—a program dedicated to helping internationally trained veterinarians gain recognition and licensure in the United States.

PAVE, administered through the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) and hosted by institutions like Oklahoma State University, provides a pathway for veterinarians educated outside of the U.S. and Canada to meet the educational standards required to practice here.

MSVH is committed to being a clinical and community partner in this journey. We provide mentorship, hands-on experience, and local integration opportunities to help international veterinarians succeed not only professionally but personally.

OSU-OKC Veterinary Technology Program

MSVH offers a dynamic preceptorship experience for students in the Oklahoma State University–Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC) Veterinary Technology program. As an AAHA-accredited clinic, MSVH provides students with hands-on exposure to a wide range of veterinary services, including wellness exams, diagnostics, surgery, and exotic pet care. Under the mentorship of experienced veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), students gain practical skills and insights into daily clinical operations.

The preceptorship is a pivotal component of the OSU-OKC Vet Tech program, comprising 280 clinical hours over eight weeks, culminating in a final week of classroom instruction. This immersive experience bridges academic learning with real-world application, preparing students for licensure and careers in veterinary technology. MSVH's collaborative environment and commitment to excellence make it an ideal setting for aspiring veterinary professionals to develop their expertise.

Moore Norman Technology

Main St. Veterinary Hospital is proud to partner with Moore Norman Technology Center (MNTC) to offer valuable externship opportunities for students in MNTC’s Veterinary Assistant program. This collaboration aims to provide hands-on learning experiences, bridging the gap between classroom instruction and real-world veterinary practice. Through this partnership, MNTC students gain exposure to a wide range of veterinary services and procedures, enhancing their skills and preparing them for successful careers in animal care. MSVH is committed to supporting the next generation of veterinary professionals by fostering educational growth, offering mentorship, and ensuring that students receive the practical experience needed to excel in the field. Together, MSVH and MNTC are helping shape the future of veterinary medicine, one externship at a time.

We have proudly partnered with Norman Animal Welfare for over 20 years by providing medical care for shelter pets. We currently participate in their Spay/Neuter Initiative for Pets (SNIP) which provides spay and neuter surgeries for underserved pet families. If you are in need of a low cost spay or neuter program, you can fill out an application onlineprint an application, or request to have an application mailed to you.

St. Francis Animal Resource Center is a non-profit that provides pet services and resources to the underserved Norman community to help keep pets with their people and out of the shelter. We are proud to collect pet food and supplies as a donation station for this amazing organization. Our very own Dr. Sara Brown has been a volunteer and on the board of directors since St. Francis was founded in 2018.
